We haven’t simply adopted digital technology, we made it ours, and changed the way we capture, design and produce our veneers. We think you will find the workflow straightforward, and comfortable to go through.
END OF GOOPY MOULDS
Hate the gagging feel of taking rubber impressions? Fear no more! Your teeth can now be scanned using a camera that creates a 3D image of your teeth. No mess, no gagging, no repeats. Images can then be 3D printed or used to create a myriad of restorations and appliances.
SMILE DESIGN
Once your teeth are scanned, it’s time to design your veneers. Wax and manual brushes are replaced with state-of-the-art design software. But don’t worry, the principles of teeth design are still very human. At Proud Smile all our designs are created in-house, down to the smallest detail by our dentists, so you receive a personalised smile made exclusively for you.
THE MAKE OF VENEERS
It’s milling time! Based on your personalised 3D design, the Veneers are cut out of a porcelain block using robotic technology. They’re then polished and coated with a glaze material before being fired at a temperature of 700c. Veneers then come out strong and glossy ready to be cemented to create your perfect individual smile.
How strong really are porcelain veneers?
Even though veneers can be as thin as 0.3mm (Ultra Thin Veneers), once bonded to teeth enamel they become extremely strong. We only use premium ceramics with strengths ranging from 250mpa up to 850Mpa, depending on indication and budget. In other words, you’d need at least a 250 pound force inflicted on them before they’d break. Veneers are made to survive the harsh mouth environment, which has large variances of temperature, acidity, bacterial attachment and the tough forces of the bite. It’s important that your bite is properly assessed, as well as your diet, habits and lifestyle, so we can increase the longevity of these restorations.
Virtual Trial Smile
Seeing is believing
We understand some patients can be fearful or sceptical about the kind of smile they’re about to receive, so it’s no surprise that when it comes to such an important feature like your smile, seeing is believing. At Proud Smile we cater for you too, and through our design process and digital technology, our Trial Smiles let you evaluate the plan in your mouth before the final veneers are made.
We offer our patients a Virtual Smile Design service before we even start treatment. By using a simple photo, we can show you with incredible realism, how your teeth could look. If you’re still not convinced, we can, in some cases, create a 3D printed mock up and actually place this trial design on your teeth, like a “cover”, so you can see and try it for yourself in your own mouth.
We also offer a final trial at the cementation of your permanent veneers. This means that if for any reason you are not quite ready to wear your new smile permanently and prefer to try your final porcelain veneers for a few days or even a week, we can simply cement them temporarily. That way you can assess your real porcelain veneers in full accuracy of shape and colour, rather than a plastic temporary.
