Mouthguards and Splints
Teeth are precious, why risk them?
A mouthguard is a coloured rubber device that fits over your teeth to protect them from any type of impact. If you or your children play sports, a mouthguard may be a compulsory requirement before stepping up to play. If a mouthguard is not compulsory, you should still consider whether the use of one would be in the best interests of you and your family’s health and safety. We see too many broken and missing teeth from sports that are not considered to involve contact, such as tennis or soccer, and we would rather help you protect your teeth than go through the pain and expense associated with a tooth that has been knocked out or broken.
Mouthguards
A boil-and-bite type mouthguard is just not enough, it doesn’t have enough retention and it has uneven thickness. We produce a custom made mouthguard that will fit your teeth snugly. Why save on a mouthguard and spend more later on when you have an accident? It’s just not worth it. Plus we use digital scans, no messy moulds are necessary anymore.
A sports Mouth guard cost is only $160 and it’s fully covered under certain health insurances. You can also choose from a large variety of colours and patterns for individualisation and fun.
Bite Splints
If you grind or clench your teeth together, you have a condition called Bruxism. If left untreated, this condition can cause mild to severe pain in the jaw and teeth, and even cause headaches. Bruxism causes added wear and tear of up to 80 times more than normal on your teeth, which is why it’s important to protect your teeth from this damage, as well as reducing the unpleasant symptoms associated to this condition.
A Bite Splint is a dental device typically made of acrylic. This device is worn on one of your arches to avoid your upper and lower teeth touching. The benefits of wearing a bite splint include:
- Protection of teeth and dental restorations from wear or breakage
- Reducing biting forces on dental implants
- Relief of certain types of muscle or joint pain
- Prevent unwanted movement or shifting of teeth
- Increased comfort
It’s an extremely simple process, we take digital scans of both your upper and lower teeth and it’s done, it’s literally 5 minutes. The scans are used to produce a milled splint out of a disc of acrylic. The recommendation is to wear the bite splint every night, but in more severe cases of grinding, it’s a good idea to wear them during the day as well.

Health Insurance Rebate: If you belong to a private health insurance you may get a large rebate towards a bite splint, as these are considered protective appliances and thus it will reduce the risks of broken teeth, fillings, crowns, veneers etc.
TMJ muscle relaxants
For cases where Bruxism is causing tension headaches, we can effectively alleviate these symptoms with Anti-Wrinkle injections, which are applied to the muscles that cause the grinding. This is the same product we use to treat wrinkles and lines and is simple to administer, with results lasting 12 months or more.
