Traditionally, Titanium has been the material of choice when it comes to dental implants, due to its strength and biocompatibility. However, with the increased practice of holistic treatments and the preference for metal-free products, the field of implantology had to look for alternative materials and methods.
Innovation in Aesthetics
Metal-free implants are made of Zirconia, a ceramic material, and white in colour. Zirconia is a newer generation of aesthetic material in dentistry and is also used to produce crowns and other types of restorations. Zirconia implants are relatively new, and we are pleased to offer this innovative product to our patients here on the Gold Coast. It is a highly intricate material to use, so it requires experienced and skilled professionals to handle it successfully.
Apart from being metal-free, Zirconia implants are particularly good for highly aesthetic areas such as front teeth, where often the bone wall is thin, and the gums are quite translucent; this can create challenges when using Titanium, due to its dark colour, which can often show through, reducing the final aesthetic appearance.

Computer-Guided Surgery
Similarly to Titanium implants, we use computer software and 3D x-rays to plan the position and placement of Zirconia implants with a high level of precision, which supports a more comfortable procedure and recovery. Recovery varies from person to person.
Unique cement-free and two-piece implants
Most Zirconia implants are made of one piece, from implant to crown, and this requires cement for their placement, potentially leading to problems such as inflammation and difficulty when dealing with complications. Our Nobel Biocare metal free implants, are completely cement-free, as they are entirely screw driven, the same as their Titanium equivalent.
Fast Digital Dentistry
No messy rubber moulds are required for the prosthetics, and implant crowns are fabricated in a matter of days, not weeks.
Extended Warranty
Our Zirconia implants are warranted for a period of 10 years, with a 5-year warranty for the prosthetics. Implant loss from infection or gum disease is excluded. Full warranty terms are available on request.
Are Zirconia implants safe?
Zirconia and titanium are both well-established implant materials. Zirconia implants are quite inert and well accepted by gums and bones. The surface of these implants receives a special coating during manufacture, to encourage integration with the bone. Zirconia implants have been clinically tested and are TGA approved for use in Australia. Like any surgical procedure, implants carry risks, and we cover these fully at your consultation.
Are Zirconia implants better than Titanium implants?
There is no correct answer to this question. The choice between Zirconia and Titanium relies on the specific requirements of each case, as both products can have benefits and disadvantages.
